St. Vincent Health

Looking toward the future, St. Vincent General Hospital District has embraced the concept of a health campus where specialists, primary care, Lake County Public Health Agency, and other health-related offices reside in the old hospital building and synergistically complement services in the adjacent, new hospital facility.

LETTER FROM THE INTERIM CEO, CORBIN LOGAN

“The first wealth is health.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

If health is indeed wealth, the Sisters of Charity who founded St. Vincent Hospital in 1879 to care for fortune-seeking miners were unquestionably the thought leaders of the day.

Since then, St. Vincent has been a constant in Leadville and Lake County. Its historic roots continue to shape the organization today. Now we’re poised to open the doors of our new state-of-the-art, 26,500-square-foot facility in early 2021. We call it a micro-hospital: it’s small but mighty; designed and sized for the community it serves.

With this historic step forward, we have also rolled out a refreshed version of our brand. It was created in collaboration with our leadership by local graphic designer Ned Warner and chosen via popular vote by you. The rebrand includes changes to the name, logo, colors and tagline:

St. Vincent Health

Where caring and community meet

Take a moment to consider “Health” versus “Hospital” in the name. Across a large spectrum of healthcare organizations, there’s a shift toward a health campus model and that’s also happening locally.

Our campus will include St Vincent Medical Clinic, visiting specialists, Lake County Public Health Agency, Lake County Build a Generation and other health-related offices which will reside in the current hospital building and synergistically complement services in the new facility.

New services, like general surgery that will be available in the new hospital, will keep our friends and family here in our community when they need this level of care.

Having personally experienced the hardships of showing up for a loved one recovering in Denver while maintaining a home, job, and fur-family here in Leadville, I know it can be an enormous challenge.

We want Lake County residents to know the convenience of this level of care right here in Leadville, and we are working hard to deliver it. The complete list of expanded and existing services looks like this:

  • Emergency Room (24/7)
  • Ambulance (911 response and helipad)
  • Laboratory and Direct Access Lab Testing
  • Imaging (CT, XRAY, Ultrasound and DEXA Scan)
  • Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy/Rehabilitation (Also available via telehealth)
  • Acute Care, Swing Bed, and Respite Care
  • Family Medicine/Primary Care
  • Echocardiograms and Stress Echocardiograms
  • Medical Outpatient Procedures/Infusions
  • Wound Care
  • Sleep Studies
  • Surgical Services
  • Visiting Specialists

Last month we worked to comprehensively change every print and digital representation of the brand both internally and externally: letterhead, brochures, advertisements, phone greetings, website and more. The signage and interior design in our new facility will also reflect the updated look and feel.

The St. Vincent of yesterday and today has not only provided care for residents and visitors, it has always provided a sense of connection. That’s where our new brand tagline comes in: Where caring and community meet.

Our overarching goal has been, and remains, to ensure that the Lake County community has access to consistent and sustainable health and hospital care—24 hours a day, seven days a week—now and for decades into the future.
