About St. Vincent Health
The mission of St. Vincent Hospital is: Delivering excellent healthcare to our community with dedication, honesty, and compassion.
Nestled at 10,152 feet of elevation in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, St. Vincent Hospital serves the rural area of Lake County and North America’s highest city of Leadville, Colorado.
In 1879 the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, Kansas opened Leadville’s hospital to care for the hardscrabble miners that were drawn to the community. Now celebrating over 140 years, St. Vincent Hospital continues the tradition of caring for the residents and visitors of Lake County and surrounding areas in our new state-of-the-art hospital.
In September 2021, the Leadville and Lake County community celebrated the opening of their newly constructed hospital. This new Leadville hospital means residents experience less travel to hospitals and specialists in other regions of Colorado, or elsewhere, for specialty and surgical services. Patients can be cared for in their hometown by highly-skilled healthcare professionals, in a state-of-the-art facility.
Today St. Vincent Health’s services include, ambulance (EMS), acute care, emergency department, family medicine and visiting specialists, outpatient surgical services, in patient care and swing bed, imaging, laboratory, physical therapy, occupational health, speech therapy and wound care.
