St. Vincent Health

Looking toward the future, St. Vincent General Hospital District has embraced the concept of a health campus where specialists, primary care, Lake County Public Health Agency, and other health-related offices reside in the old hospital building and synergistically complement services in the adjacent, new hospital facility.

Supporting Healthcare in Leadville & Lake County, Colorado

Our Mission

Through service, outreach, and development, the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation promotes and sustains the highest level of healthcare for Lake County and our community by supporting the programs and services of St. Vincent Health.

Our Organization

St. Vincent Hospital Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit fundraising organization that invests in the important work, programs, and infrastructure of St. Vincent Health. Its staff and volunteer leadership strive to carry on the hospital’s long history of caring for the community since 1879.

Why Give?

Individual, corporate, civic, and nonprofit gifts allow us to continue making progress toward a better tomorrow—and provides equipment and services that may one day help you, your family, your friends, and neighbors. Your tax-deductible gift combines with grant funds and other sources to enable us to continue to improve our facility, and ultimately, improve patient care.

2021 Priorities

Our new, modern hospital represents a $24 million investment in the community, funded primarily by a low-interest loan from the USDA. St. Vincent Health is bringing surgical services back on site with its new hospital, enabling general surgery, orthopedic surgery and many other procedures to take place locally once again.

This means residents will no longer need to travel to hospitals in other regions of Colorado, or elsewhere, for surgical services. Patients can be cared for in their hometown by highly credentialled healthcare professionals, in a state-of-the-art surgical facility. Perhaps even more important, a patient can now have surgery where his or her family and friends live, and where post-surgical support is close by.

In response to the readdition of a full surgical suite in our community hospital, the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation is raising funds for a new CT scanner and large surgical suite equipment.

A CT scanner is essential for the St. Vincent Health emergency room and many aspects of patient care in Leadville—which is more than 35 miles from the nearest neighboring healthcare facility with a scanner. The CT scanner comes at a cost of approximately $400,000, and the surgical equipment is approximately $700,000.
