St. Vincent Health

Looking toward the future, St. Vincent General Hospital District has embraced the concept of a health campus where specialists, primary care, Lake County Public Health Agency, and other health-related offices reside in the old hospital building and synergistically complement services in the adjacent, new hospital facility.

Gratitude and a Different Thanksgiving

Gratitude and a Different Thanksgiving

For me, it’s often that contented and happy feeling when things go really well. But what if it could mean more than that?
With our Thanksgiving holiday approaching, I reflect that gratitude is about awareness and acceptance of our world, how it changes and being grateful for belonging in it.
I’m working on making gratitude become a perpetual thing that I feel multiple times per day, and not for just the big things.
There’s science-based evidence that says that being grateful, no matter the circumstance, can improve every single area of life and actually bring in more things to be grateful for.
Not only that, but grateful people have better sleep, healthier hearts, and fewer aches and pains. Practicing gratitude can help us feel less lonely, find compassion and generosity toward others, and strengthen our immune systems.
In particular, I’m grateful for the construction of the new St. Vincent Health that is nearing completion. We’ve recruited Brett Antczak as our new CEO, and I invite you to read more about this talented, community-minded leader in the article below.
I also feel thankful for being a part of the Lake County community and living the dream in the Colorado mountains with my wife and fur-babies.
For each of us, Thanksgiving will look different this year. But with some creativity and pre-planning, you can have a meaningful holiday celebration, minimize risk, and most importantly—practice gratitude.
