St. Vincent Hospital serves the rural area of Lake County and North America’s highest city of Leadville, Colorado. In 1879 the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, Kansas opened Leadville’s hospital to care for the hardscrabble miners that were drawn to the community. Now celebrating 139 years, St. Vincent Hospital continues the tradition of caring for the residents and visitors of Lake County and surrounding areas.
As our exciting construction plans move forward in 2019 I continue to observe that as a community, we are unstoppable when we work together. The same frontier and pioneering spirit that was the driver when the Sisters of Charity established St. Vincent Hospital in 1879 is abundantly evident today.
I’m humbled and gratified as I look at the work underway by our team, which includes both staff and dedicated hospital and foundation board, volunteers. Everyone continues to work diligently and unceasingly to fundraise for the new St. Vincent Hospital. Wow!
Here’s another opportunity to help: June marks the final month of the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation Land Raffle for a prize of a half-acre residential parcel in Twin Lakes. The proceeds go toward a new CT scanner for the hospital. I hope you’ll buy tickets—$75 for one, $195 for three, or $300 for five—and share the raffle widely with your friends, peers, and family. The drawing is June 22 and tickets will be sold until midnight on June 21 at this online link: https://svghd.org/foundation/.
You may not be aware that a portion of the foundation’s fundraising is from our own team pledge fund, including Dr. Lisa, who matches the fund up to $5,000 per year. She’s one of several St. Vincent staff members who demonstrate their commitment to our hospital by backing St. Vincent with their money. It’s a powerful expression of commitment to our success.
It will take diverse sources of funding to accomplish our goals: loan financing, healthcare grants, and community and family gifts and donations. I know with your support, coupled with that of our team and our partners, that we are an unstoppable force.
