When Every Second Counts

When you have an emergency, our ambulance and emergency teams respond with expert critical care.

St. Vincent Hospital Emergency Services is the only paramedic ambulance service in

Lake County.  Our coverage area is approx. 400 square miles with a year-round

population of 8,000 residents (this number grows significantly in peak tourist seasons).

We respond to calls for 911 transports and many long distance transports to other

Emergency Services mans one primary ambulance crew 24/7 to respond to the 911 needs of Lake County. A secondary crew is on call for backup and transfers for patients. The ambulance department is staffed by approximately 20 Paramedics, Intermediate EMT’s and EMT’s. We are affiliated with RETAC (Regional

Emergency Medical and Trauma Advisory Councils.)

File of Life promotion:

St. Vincent Hospital ambulance department has made an investment in our community.

The department has purchased refrigerator magnets called File of Life. Each magnet contains a form and a pocket so that you can organize medical information in a place where emergency responders can find it. We recommend you keep it on your refrigerator so first responders can locate it easily.

Medical emergencies can happen anytime. When they do, there is confusion, panic and urgency. Paramedics arrive on the scene with no information about the person in need. Does the patient have prior medical conditions? Allergies? What medications are they taking? Who do they want us to call? How do we contact their family or friends? File of Life puts these answers at their fingertips. It allows first responders to immediately begin the best possible treatment, notify loved ones, and pass this vital data on to awaiting physicians at the emergency room. File of Life has already saved thousands of lives. It is an absolute asset to emergency preparedness, and peace of mind, for every household and community across the nation.

This little red refrigerator magnet and form – which you fill in with important information about medications you are taking, your health conditions and who to contact in an emergency - could contribute to saving your life or the lives of your loved ones.

Stop by St. Vincent Hospital or St. Vincent Leadville Medical Clinic to pick one up –or ask the ambulance crew for one when you see them around town.

Helmet giveaway and fitting

The St. Vincent Hospital Emergency
Services participates in community
events such as bike rodeos, helmet

If we are not responding to an
emergency and we see a child on a
bike, not wearing a helmet,
we stop and give one to them.
