Nestled at 10,152 feet of elevation in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, St. Vincent General Hospital is known as the highest hospital in North America’s highest city of Leadville, Colorado.

In 1879, the Sister’s of Charity—Leavenworth, Sisters of CharityKansas came to Leadville to address the medical needs of this bustling mining community.  Since that time, St. Vincent has provided continuous medical service to Lake County residents and visitors.

St. Vincent is a Critical Access Hospital that provides general medical services for a wide variety of acute illnesses, as well as emergency, laboratory and imaging services. A complete list of our services can be found under the “Hospital Services” tab on this website.

We are also a Colorado Special District, a Quasi-Municipal Corporation bound by the Rules and Regulations of The State of Colorado.
